WOW2 “Waiting On”Wednesday is a weekly blog meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. Here, we shine the spotlight on books that are coming out soon that we are excited about reading!

Frozen

Frozen by: Melissa de la Cruz and Michael Johnston
Publication Date: September 17, 2013
Publisher: Putnam Juvenile
Genre: Dystopian, Fantasy, Sci-fi
Series: #1 in Heart of Dread
Page Count: 320
Author Websites: Melissa de la Cruz
Pre-Order the Book: Amazon, Barnes & Noble

Summary from Goodreads:

Set in 111 C.D., one hundred and eleven years after a Catastrophic Disaster has wiped out 99% of humanity and left the earth covered in ice, this new series introduces readers to a ragtag group of friends and the dawning of a new time. The world of reason, of mathematics and science, is ending, and a new civilization is being born from the ice: a world of magic and mayhem, sorcerers and spellcraft.
FROZEN is the first in a trilogy and is set to release in Spring of 2013.

Why am I anticipating this?
I have a feeling this will be the start of a new amazing series. I hope so, at least. The cover isn’t anything special, in my opinion, but the story looks so amazing! I love the idea of a group of teenagers trying to make it in a new world. I haven’t read anything else by Melisa de la Cruz, so I can’t wait to see how I like her writing!

Towering

Towering by: Alex Flinn
Publication Date: May 14, 2013
Publisher: HarperTeen
Genre: Retelling, Fantasy
Page Count: 304
Author Website: Alex Flinn
Pre-Order the Book: Amazon, Barnes & Noble

Summary from Goodreads:

At first, I merely saw his face, his hands on the window ledge. Then, his whole body as he swung himself through the window. Only I could not see what he swung on.
Until, one day, I told my dream self to look down. And it was then that I saw. He had climbed on a rope. I knew without asking that the rope had been one of my own tying.
Rachel is trapped in a tower, held hostage by a woman she’s always called Mama. Her golden hair is growing rapidly, and to pass the time, she watches the snow fall and sings songs from her childhood, hoping someone, anyone, will hear her.
Wyatt needs time to reflect or, better yet, forget about what happened to his best friend, Tyler. That’s why he’s been shipped off to the Adirondacks in the dead of winter to live with the oldest lady in town. Either that, or no one he knows ever wants to see him again.
Dani disappeared seventeen years ago without a trace, but she left behind a journal that’s never been read, not even by her overbearing mother…until now.
A #1 New York Times bestselling author, Alex Flinn knows her fairy tales, and Towering is her most mind-bending interpretation yet. Dark and mysterious, this reimagining of Rapunzel will have readers on the edge of their seats wondering where Alex will take them next!

Why am I anticipating this?

I will automatically read anything Alex Flinn writes without even reading the summary. She is that amazing! I was a reader of Beastly way before it became insanely popular. So, naturally, I am hugely excited about this retelling of Rapunzel. It looks like a many-layered story and I know I will love it. I am hoping to get an ARC of this!
